cookies

i am baking chocolate chip cookies right now. they are for an exchange with someone. i want tostitos brand tortilla chips. she wants fresh baked chocolate chip cookies. a match made in heaven.

i applied for a few more jobs. one is as a tax expert. yes, well i am not a tax expert but i could be. and the job says you have to train people in tax rules. i love training people. it’s the exhibitionist in me. i also applied for a financial design center job. not sure they will want me, but hey, can’t hurt to try. both these jobs are in the UK. would love to live in the UK.

did i mention that i am reading ‘fast food nation’? after reading ‘no logo’ i was not able to buy clothing from any of the mid-range stores anymore (gap, banana republic, etc). now with fast food nation, i can’t eat anywhere that doesn’t make all their food 100% from scratch and i have to ask where they get their chicken. i am really hoping in n out gets their hamburger patties someone private. it is completely disgusting what our multi-nationals have done to make a buck. threating states for reduced tax, union busting, dumbing down the process and purposely utilizing unskilled/illegal labor to keep profits high. besides that, the incentive systems, the ‘what you will be graded on’ schemes supported just the worst behavior. using public resources to house employees. pathetic. and with them being so big? what can we do to change their behavior? virtually nothing unless a HUGE portion of society fights back. and that isn’t likely. guess i will keep my quiet vigil myself.

the outfit

i really like the single sleeve look but i have yet to find an actual shirt that is nice. the one i have on in the picture is ok. the skirt is a recent tara jarmon purchase. bought in paris. ah. paris.

equalizing

the internet is the great equalizer. it is the same as the gun was when it was invented and took on wide use. it allows oppressed and voiceless to be heard and exert power. it makes them equal in their existence. the only draw back is that it allows the dangerous fringe (such as pedophiles) to have a voice and power too. it’s like criminals using guns. but, like with many of those things over history that helped to empower the powerless, it has its abuses. but one needs to be willing to accept the good with the bad, and fight the evil when necessary. our freedom relies on it being equal to all. are we willing to give up that which is cherished by us because of a few bad seeds that could be controlled otherwise? more simply? by simply pay attention? take the 4th amendment for example. are we really willing to give up being safe from intrusion, abuse and violence because of a suspicion by someone. doesn’t that simply become a salem witch trial? mccarthy trial? if we simply got to know our neighbors, then they would have few places to hide. and i for one would be more willing to give up my life in the short team for the rights of many in the long run. really, i am. my gov’t and its arbitrary accusations and attacks scare me. when do i, or you end up on ‘the list’? write your congressmen, ask them about the patriot act, the patriot 2 and what rights you lose. ask them what they think of the 4th amendment.

jobs and adaptation

i had my job interview on wednesday and it went really well. i would be a business process consultant. right up my alley and totally the work i enjoy. the job would entail going to a region or business and assisting them in doing IT process analysis for either a process they have or want. the organizational manager has his bio on the intranet a work and it says he is a ‘film fanatic’. i interviewed with one of the women on his staff but i would love to get a chance to meet him and ask him about this fanaticism. though he does love in houston, and much of his staff, he speaks 4 languages and did four years in paris as a researcher for a modern music group as well as hiking through borneo photographing trees and collecting leeches. sounds like a fun group. oh, and i can live anywhere in the US i want…so how about nyc?

we saw the movie ‘adaptation’ tonight. all was going along well and i was really enjoying it, until it got totally fucking weird (pardon my language but you would understand if you saw it). nicholas cage does do a brilliant job being himself twice as well as talking to himself. funny though, kaufman/jonez movies seem to always have someone playing themselves at least twice. john malkovich was amazing playing john cusack playing john malkovich. trippy. there was an interesting quote and i added it to the quote page.

patrick and i went to the spa today. got our toes done. sat in the steam bath. then we shopped. i bought make-up and have taken a new vow to wear mascara every day. deep huh? it was a great day though. relaxing and fun. we bought a pair of camouflage patterned pants that we are dying black (hoping to get the patterns still in shades of black). patrick is now working on my leather cuff bracelet we had an idea for ages ago but only recently found the leather for. i want to make a leather tie too. i have a great idea for an outfit. cheers.
